Community Values and Behavioral Expectations
All housing—including Whitworth Neighborhood houses and all residences halls—are considered to be a part of Whitworth's housing system and therefore fall under the university's
community values and behavioral expectations
. The main points of the university’s community values and behavioral expectations are as follows:
There is to be no on-campus possession, consumption or distribution of alcohol, illegal drugs/mood-altering substances or controlled medication without a prescription.
There is to be no cohabitation on campus. We understand the term "cohabitation" to include genital sexual contact outside marriage, and/or the spending of a night together by two people engaged in a romantic or sexual relationship or encounter.
There is to be no violent or destructive behavior or other conduct that threatens or endangers the safety or emotional well-being of any person on campus.
Expanding on the first point, residents who are not undergraduate students are permitted to consume and possess alcohol in the Whitworth Neighborhoods houses (but never in the residence halls). Consumption of alcohol in the presence of any undergraduate student or distribution to undergraduate students is prohibited on university property. All other drugs, including marijuana, controlled medication without a prescription, and drug paraphernalia are prohibited for all campus residents. Residents are responsible for their guests. If a guest consumes alcohol and violates the law or causes harm to people or property on Whitworth’s campus, the resident is responsible. A violation of this policy may result in loss of campus housing and be reported to applicable postgraduate programs.
See the
Whitworth Student Handbook
for complete details of policies.
